Is there a "celebrity Nakshatra"? A "star Lagna"? A time of day when future stars are born? We took every celebrity in our database whose birth time comes from a documented source (graded Accurate), recomputed their charts with our Swiss-Ephemeris engine, and counted. 413 people qualified: 106 bollywood, 85 politician, 69 hollywood, 55 literature, 49 musician, 24 sports, 21 singer, 3 businessman, 1 scientist.
For each measure we compare the counts with what chance alone would produce (a chi-square test against an even spread, using the real day-length of each rising sign where that matters). A p-value below 0.05 would mean the pattern is unlikely to be chance.
Update note, 19 October 2026: while preparing this study we found that our chart engine had been adding an extra 2.89° to every planet and calculating the Ascendant with a faulty formula. We fixed it, checked the engine against Swiss Ephemeris on random births worldwide, and recomputed every celebrity chart. All figures here use the corrected charts, and celebrity pages on the site were updated.
Moon Nakshatra
The most common were Swati (22), Ashlesha (21), Mrigashira (20), Dhanishta (20), Krittika (19), Purva Bhadrapada (18); the least common were Ashwini (9), Uttara Ashadha (10), Mula (11), Punarvasu (12), Vishakha (12). With 413 charts we would expect about 15.3 per Nakshatra, so a spread like this is normal: p = 0.8499 (no meaningful difference from chance).
Moon sign
p = 0.7603 (no meaningful difference from chance).
Rising sign (Lagna)
Signs rise for different lengths of time, so we compared the counts with the time each sign spends on the horizon at New Delhi's latitude (an approximation for people born elsewhere): p = 0.0876 (no meaningful difference from chance).
Time of day and weekday
Birth hour: p = 0.3943 (no meaningful difference from chance). Weekday: p = 0.886 (no meaningful difference from chance). The busiest hours in the data were 5:00 (26), 7:00 (26), 17:00 (24), 6:00 (22), 3:00 (21), 14:00 (20).
Moon phase
197 were born in the waxing half (Shukla paksha) and 216 in the waning half; 14 on a full-moon tithi and 15 on a new-moon tithi.
What we conclude
- Within this dataset, no Moon Nakshatra, Moon sign, birth hour or weekday is meaningfully over-represented among celebrities.
- Small groups look "special" by chance: with 27 Nakshatras and a few hundred charts, some will always appear on top.
- Our analysis counts patterns; it cannot say anything about cause. A chart feature is not a recipe for fame.
Limits of this study
Birth times are documented but not perfect; the sample is celebrities we hold, not all famous people; and Lagna expectations use one latitude. All the data comes from our public celebrity charts — you can check any profile on the celebrity charts pages, each with its reliability grade.
Frequently asked questions
Which Nakshatra is most common among celebrities?
In our data of 413 verified-time charts the most frequent was Swati (22), but the spread is consistent with chance.
Is there a best birth time for fame?
Not according to our data: birth hour and weekday show no meaningful pattern among verified celebrity births.
