Have you ever read about someone born under your sign and felt a small jolt of recognition? That feeling is the reason people search for an astrological twin. It is also the idea AstroTwinz is built around. We compare your Vedic birth chart with more than 5,000 celebrity charts, from Bollywood and Hollywood film and TV stars to cricketers, singers and sports legends, and show you who shares your Moon sign, your birth star (Nakshatra) and, where the birth time is documented, your Lagna. For expecting parents we go one step further: with your doctor's approval, the Birth Planner shows birth windows that share those features with a celebrity chart you admire.
This guide explains what "twin" really means, how rare each kind of match is, how our matching works, and where birth planning fits, including the safety rules that come first.
What "twin" means in Vedic astrology
Sun-sign horoscopes put one-twelfth of the world in each box, which is why they feel generic. Vedic astrology gives you finer placements to compare. These are the four kinds of "twin" people usually mean, from loosest to most specific:
| Kind of twin | What you share | Roughly how often two random people share it |
|---|---|---|
| Moon-sign twin | The Moon was in the same sign (Rashi) at birth | 1 in 12 |
| Nakshatra twin | The Moon was in the same birth star (one of 27) | 1 in 27 |
| Nakshatra and pada twin | Same star and same quarter of it (108 padas) | 1 in 108 |
| Chart twin | Same Moon Nakshatra and the same Lagna (rising sign) | about 1 in 324 (27 stars times 12 rising signs), and needs an exact birth time |
These odds are simple arithmetic and treat the placements as independent, which is close enough for a feel of how special a match is. The takeaway: a Moon-sign twin is easy to find, a Nakshatra twin is a nice coincidence, and a full chart twin is genuinely rare. Our Nakshatra calculator gives you the first two in a minute.
A common mix-up: opposite signs are not twins
Some "twin astrology" articles online describe twin signs as signs 180 degrees apart, such as Aries and Libra. Those are opposite signs: they sit on the 1-7 axis of a chart and are read as complementary partners. They are interesting for relationships, but they are not twins. A twin, in the way we use the word, is someone who shares your placement, not someone who mirrors it. If you want compatibility between two people, the traditional tool is Gun Milan; if you want to know who shares your chart, you want the celebrity twin.
How Celebrity Twin Matching works
- Enter your birth details. Date, time and place of birth. The time matters for your Lagna; without it we still match your Moon sign and Nakshatra and tell you plainly when the answer is approximate.
- We calculate your chart. Planetary positions come from the Swiss Ephemeris with the Lahiri ayanamsa, the same standard used by Indian panchangs. See how we calculate and publish.
- We compare it with the celebrity database. Every public figure carries a data grade (Accurate, Reference or Uncertain) because a chart is only as good as the birth time behind it. Read how we grade celebrity birth data.
- You see your twins by Moon sign, Nakshatra and, for documented birth times, Lagna, and you can browse them by field: Bollywood, Hollywood, cricket, music and more.
Try it free with Celebrity Twin Matching, or browse without signing up: celebrities by Nakshatra, celebrities by Moon sign, and celebrity birthdays by month.
How many celebrities share your Moon sign?
Here is a quick look at the database. The counts cover the 2,185 people whose birth data is graded Accurate or Reference; the full database holds more than 5,000 profiles.
| Moon sign (Rashi) | Celebrities |
|---|---|
| Aries (Mesha) | 176 |
| Taurus (Vrishabha) | 193 |
| Gemini (Mithuna) | 166 |
| Cancer (Karka) | 186 |
| Leo (Simha) | 164 |
| Virgo (Kanya) | 162 |
| Libra (Tula) | 185 |
| Scorpio (Vrischika) | 169 |
| Sagittarius (Dhanu) | 173 |
| Capricorn (Makara) | 208 |
| Aquarius (Kumbha) | 201 |
| Pisces (Meena) | 202 |
Every sign has a deep bench, so whichever Moon sign you were born under, you will find plenty of company, and the Nakshatra narrows the match further.
Where birth planning fits in
Some families do not only look for a celebrity twin after the fact. When a birth is already being scheduled, for example a planned caesarean, they ask whether the baby's chart could share features with a chart they admire. That is celebrity birth planning, and it is the second idea AstroTwinz is built around.
The Birth Planner works like this: you give your doctor's safe range of dates, you pick a celebrity chart, and the planner shows days and Lagna windows inside that range that share the celebrity's Moon sign, Nakshatra and Lagna. It is free to start. It is based on astrology, and it only works inside the dates your doctor confirms are safe.
What a celebrity twin does and does not mean
A twin match is a pleasant, traditional lens: it tells you whose sky yours resembles. It does not make you famous, talented or successful, and a baby's chart does not hand over a celebrity's traits. Treat it as a way to connect with a tradition, to start a conversation, and for parents, to choose between options that are already medically equal. That honest framing is why the planner is built around the doctor's range.

Frequently asked questions
What is an astrological twin?
Someone who shares a placement with you: the same Moon sign, the same birth star (Nakshatra) or, when the birth time is documented, the same Lagna. A chart twin shares both the Nakshatra and the Lagna.
Are opposite signs twins?
No. Signs 180 degrees apart are opposites on the 1-7 axis. They are read as complementary, not as twins.
How does AstroTwinz find my celebrity twin?
It calculates your Vedic chart with the Swiss Ephemeris and compares your Moon sign, Nakshatra and Lagna with more than 5,000 celebrity charts, each with a birth-data grade.
Can I plan my baby's birth around a celebrity chart?
The Birth Planner shows birth windows based on astrology, only inside the dates your doctor confirms are safe. Please follow your doctor's guidance.
